Directors and Mission Statement
Co-Director: Monifa Kincaid-Coaxum
Monifa
Kincaid-Coaxum is an independent tap, contemporary dancer, and
choreographer. She is also a dance educator at South Junior High
School, Newburgh, N.Y. She is the co-director for the New York based C3
Tap Dance Co-operative. Monifa’s performance credits include works
created by; Andrea Del Conte and Barbara Duffy, Brenda Bufalino (for the
New York Tap City Festival, Adult Showcase), Modern Boogie, MAK Movement
Group, Camara Dance Unlimited, Ground Provision Movement, Mary Seidman
Dance Group, Guido Tuveri/Sanza Nemo Collective, and Nia
Love/Blacksmith’s Daughter Dance Theater. Her choreography has been
shown at Van Wyck Junior H.S (production: The Wiz), Wappingers Falls,
N.Y., The Howland Cultural Center, Beacon, N.Y., The Brooklyn Children’s
Museum, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Beacon, N.Y. , Gowanus Arts,
Brooklyn, N.Y., The Evolving Arts Theater at Dancespace, White Wave
D.U.M.B.O. festival, Joyce Soho, and the Broome Corner Theater. She
holds an M.A. in Education from Lehman University, an M.A. in Dance
Studies from the Laban Center, U.K., and a B.F.A. from the University of
the Arts in Philadelphia.
Co-Director: Awoye Timpo
New York
credits include Rhinoceros (also translation), Meeting of the
Minds, 45 Minute Hour, Fall of the House of Kate, and Founding
Fathers at the New York Historical Society. Upcoming projects
include a world premier translation of The Vanished by Belgian
playwright Oliver Coyette. Ms. Timpo has worked at McCarter Theatre, the
Public Theater, the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey and The Julliard
School. She has a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MA in
Contemporary French Studies from the University of London (British
Institute of Paris). She is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater
Directors Lab.
Mission Statement

To gather like minds to study the art form of tap dance and its
practitioners.

To learn tap repertory in an effort to keep the tradition of tap dance
alive.

To support tap artists to create new choreography.
·
To create and maintain a supportive and professional environment for
each of the group's members to reach their highest level of technique
and performance.

To challenge each member to become the best dancer they can be.

To seek out opportunities to perform the repertory of the co-operative.
